Why an SLSF accounting career?
At our 2008 partner retreat and firm wide meeting we resolved to be the best accounting firm to work for in Chicagoland. We felt we were good, but there were many ways to be better. The most important part of being a great place to work is having great people to work with. SLSF associates and partners comprise the most knowledgeable, ambitious, committed, responsible, caring, warm and friendly team to work with in Chicagoland.
SLSF is a great mix of experienced and less experienced staff combining knowledge, energy, technical expertise and a desire to always get better. Our people bring a variety of valuable experiences to our firm and our clients. Some of us have spent the majority of our careers at SLSF; some of us have extensive Big 4 and large local and regional firm experience; we have recent graduates from DePaul, Illinois State, Michigan State, University of Illinois, Aurora and Southern Illinois. Most of us are CPAs and many of us have advanced degrees. A number of our people have backgrounds as high school and college student athletes; great training for being part of a strong team and for SLSF’s high level of dedication to learning and service. Our partners and staff are deeply involved in our community, serving on boards of non profits and doing great things for those who need it most. These varied experiences blend together to create a winning team and a very rewarding work experience.
Some of the characteristics and programs that make SLSF a great place to work: |

- Giving back - Two associates started our SLSF Community Cares Program. In the last two years, this staff driven initiative has participated in numerous charitable activities.
- Food - Tax season means food! We bring in dinner every night and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Everyone also looks forward to “Tasty Treat Thursdays." Year round we have fresh fruit and vegetables daily, free soda and a variety of coffees and teas.
- One for all, all for one - Our partners work very collaboratively with our associates. Partners’ doors are indeed always open.
- Fun! - Our associates run our SLSF Fun Committee, creating enjoyable diversions throughout tax season.
- Spreading the word - The “Unqualified Opinion” our award worthy internal newsletter was started and is compiled and edited entirely by SLSF associates. Everyone has the opportunity to contribute features and business and personal articles and pictures.
- Outside the office - We have numerous fun and personal growth activities outside of the office including ballgames, happy hours, dinners, cultural tours, charity and other fundraising opportunities. Our annual SLSF holiday party which includes spouses and guests is an enjoyable event to which we all look forward.
- Growing the business - We encourage and coach our associates who desire to be involved in networking and business development activities.
- Great compensation and benefits – of course!
